Woodland Woodturning Woodland, PA USA Our Arts and Craft Show schedule _____________________________ Note: As you can see my show list is way down from 2005. We are cutting shows that are mostly country craft, PVC blow guns or buy/sell china stuff. #1. April 1 * Central Dauphin High School, Dauphin, PA Booth Good Show, Fair crowd. The crowd was way down from last year. I think because last year many folks wanted to see the new school. Sales followed the crowd (Down from last year) Although the promoters are trying to keep this show clean, many booths of questionable country crafts slipped in. When you see the same item in the exact same color in three different booths you have to be suspicious. I don't think I will return. #2. April 29 * Lewisburg Market Street Festival. Lewisburg, PA 10:00 - 5:00 Great weather This one of the cleanest shows we do. NO made in china country craft here. The booths are full of very nice hand made art and craft items. We did well this year. Great job folks! #3. May 6 * Danville Spring Fling Danville, PA 9:00-5:00 Very windy in the afternoon again this year. I saw several tents and displays upset, how well I remember that experience from last year. We got through it without any damage. I was a bit worried that by noon I had no sales, but the afternoon picked up (along with the wind). Lots of country craft, but the show attracts a good size crowd. We did well enough in the afternoon to bring us back to this show next spring. #4. May 19- 20 * Indiana May Mart, Indiana, PA. Indiana Garden Club New management/location this year. Seems to me they gave up on trying to keep out the buy and sell and are now welcoming it. When I mentioned the buy and sell I was told that the show might not be the right venue for us. I did see one guy making nice wooden folding tables that did well, but most (real) crafters I talked to did poorly. #5. May 27 - May 21 * Country Memory, McVeytown, PA My Dad's home town, they treat us good there. A good show for us. #6. May 20 - May 21 * Blair County Arts Festival, Altoona, PA
J One of my bowls won a prize. J #7. May 29 * Boalsburg, PA. 70 E Main St. Another Beautiful day. Our best Boalsburg show ever! #8. June 3 DuBois Festival of the Arts DuBois, PA This was the slowest show we have done here. Our high quality woodworker neighbor did not sell anything. We made little over expenses. #9. July 28-29 * Presque Isle Weekend Erie, PA This is a nice show in a beautiful park. Nice size crowd but slow sales for us. We barely make expenses on this one, but we enjoy the weekend in the park, and the people so... we keep trying. 2006 was a $$ disaster! They moved us and a few other crafters from our nice location to the buy and sell area which was a mud hole this year. I was tempted to just go home and not even set up. but after 3 hours of driving we decided to try. I wish I would have gone home. We had one customer. She came both days and bought one thing each time. Two days = two sales. Total sales = $66.00 Total expenses > $250.00. One nearby crafter sold nothing. Nobody from the park checked on us all weekend! We did make a few new friends and enjoyed the company of the crafters that were around us so all was not lost. I really liked this show and am sorry this happened. We will not return. #10 August ? Bellefonte Arts and Crafts show, Bellefonte, PA My sales here are nothing to brag about, but the promoters are. They are super! They bring hot drinks\donuts in the morning and cold drinks in the afternoon. There is not another show we do where the promoters show as much concern for the vendors. An artist reception Friday night lets us chat about the show. I received many complements about my work. but most people just are not interested in buying wooden items at this show, many will not come into the booth, and stand out front and look in. The people that buy my work hold it and look at it closely. The other turner at this show gave up and did not come back this year. It is me\my products though, some artists/jewelers I know had a good show. The import buy/sell gang are starting to show up here. That will kill a show quickly. The artist\crafters will pull out and the spots end up getting filled by more buy sell and the show becomes a flea market. The promoters promised the offenders would not return. I sent my teenage helper around to watch and report back about what he thought were good sellers at the show. He said "that's easy" 1. French Fries 2. Vegetable Dip 3. Gyros Bottom line, I still like the show, beautiful town, nice promoters, great vendors, a good sized crowd. Could I sell French Fries next year? #11. September 2 * Roots Market at Manheim, (near Lancaster) PA I heard about this show in Sunshine Artist. It got a good review. A hurricane came through the weekend of the show. We had wind and rain. Most vendors did not set up. We did! Even in the rain we sold enough to cover expenses. I think this would be a great show in a nice day. I already sent in my paperwork for next year. #12. September 22, 2006 - January 14, 2007 "Artists In Our Midst", Altoona, PA (At the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art) J I won a juror's award. J They have my bowls on display in the front window. What an honor this is. #13 September 22, 2006 - October 22, 2006 Susquehanna River Art Center Art Exhibition Note: The show is at the Henry and Co., on the Second floor, Clearfield, PA #14. September 30, 2006 - October 7, 2006 48th Annual Autumn Leaf Festival Art Exhibition Clarion, PA J I won a juror's mention. J #15. October 6 * Friday only Autumn Leaf Festival, Clarion, PA This was our second year here. A good show for us this year. #16. October 7 * Saturday only Dutch Fall Festival AAronsburg, PA This will be our second year here. The promoters have let in flee market and buy/sell. There were a few crafters that made their products and a hand full of artists. The promoters said that the people wanted the flee market stuff. We did ok, but I am disappointed with the made in China Stuff. #17. October 21 , Saturday Only Dubois Country Club Art Show, Dubois, PA First time for us. They invited a few local artists to show our work. There were crafters and artists. Nice show but few customers. Many of the craft vendors left early. I did not sell a thing. #18. November Friday, Saturday and Sunday Holiday Open House Featuring Nittany Crafters and Naomi's Crystal Cove Pleasant Gap, PA A good chance to pick up a few Christmas gifts. Nice quality crafts in a home party type show. #19. December Thursday and Friday CANCELLED!!!! Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. This show was a very good one for us. The collectors where starting to buy from us. The promoter said she is too busy do do the show this year. We morn the death of a good show! #20. December 1&2 Friday and Saturday Stocking Stuffer Antique & Craft Sale at the Centre County Historical Society We sold a few things. I may try is again next year. # 21 December 7-10 Festival of trees, Ag. building, State College, PA (Small show limited to 10 vendors) We are doing better at this show every year, Many of our previous customers return and we continue to gain new ones. Good fun for our last show of the year. The show starts out very slow but builds momentum by the weekend . I'm not sure if I actually make any profit after expenses and material costs, but I have fun. We have become friends with a few of the vendors and its like homecoming week or the company Christmas party for us. We show Thurs - Saturday only. * = Booked Blue = Notes & how we did at this years show
Note: We do not work or sell on Sunday. The above shows either are closed Sunday or will let us close. We are always on the lookout for good shows that do not require Sunday attendance. If you know of any please share the information with us by clicking the email link below
